Coyote Ridge

Rolling grasslands, oak woodlands and seasonal creeks with spectacular view of the entire South Bay.  The property includes serpentine soils which provide critical habitat for the Bay Checkerspot Butterfly and other listed species.

Immediately east of Highway 101 and the Coyote Valley, Santa Clara County

Size: 1,831 acres

Price: $15.65 million (appraised value)

Outcome:

The property was donated by United Technologies Corporation to the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority utilizing the CA Natural Heritage Preservation Tax Credit Program.  Grant funds from federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private foundations, were used to reimburse the state general fund for the tax credit amount.
