La Purisima Conservation Bank
Historically used for livestock grazing, the property boasts a robust population of California tiger salamander (“CTS”). The ranch includes a significant portion of CTS Critical Habitat and has numerous breeding ponds for CTS, as well as other listed species. The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County holds a conservation easement on the property.

East of Vandenburg Air Force Base and west of Buellton in the Purisima Hills, Santa Barbara County

Outcome:
The Bank was approved by US Fish & Wildlife Service and CA Department of Fish & Wildlife in March, 2014. Bank credits include CTS and Western Spadefoot Toad. Future credits for CA red-legged frog are possible dependent upon breeding success.
