Puzzle Creek Conservation Bank

This Mojave Desert property is home to more than 30,000 Western Joshua trees and is situated at an ideal elevation for continued species and ecosystem health. Puzzle Creek, an ephemeral wash, bisects the property.

Near the community of Llano in northeastern Los Angeles County

Size: 324 acres

Outcome:

The property was acquired by Burns & McDonnell which established the conservation bank in 2023 to offset impacts to Western Joshua trees, a candidate species under the California Endangered Species Act, caused by infrastructure development.
